Mainstream news organizations launched attacks against Tesla and Elon Musk, focusing on a “recall” of nearly every Tesla vehicle sold in the U.S. since 2012.
However, this “recall” involves automatic wireless updates rather than traditional customer visits to service centers.
Tesla defends its Autopilot system, claiming it makes vehicles safer and cited data to support the claim. (Trending: Democrat Excludes White People From Holiday Party In Controversial Email)
Tesla said the system is “morally indefensible not to make these systems available to a wider set of consumers, given the incontrovertible data that shows it is saving lives and preventing injury.”
“In the 4th quarter of 2022, we recorded one crash for every 4.85 million miles driven in which drivers were using Autopilot technology,” Tesla stated.
“For drivers who were not using Autopilot technology, we recorded one crash for every 1.40 million miles driven.”
“By comparison, the most recent data available from NHTSA and FHWA (from 2021) shows that in the United States there was an automobile crash approximately every 652,000 miles.”
The attacks are seen as part of an increased targeting of Musk and his companies since his involvement in Twitter and are exemplified by media distortions, such as NBC’s report on the Cybertruck’s safety compared to other electric trucks.
