It’s widely speculated that UFC superstar Conor McGregor will come back to the octagon in 2024 to face off against lightweight champion Michael Chandler.
There appears to be another reason for the match as McGregor and Chandler are also rivals in the liquor industry.
While Conor McGregor holds ownership in Proper 12 whiskey, Chandler announced that he is a part owner of the premium tequila, Hiatus. (Trending: New Movie Obamas Helped Make Raises Eyebrows: ‘Don’t Trust White People’)
Michael Chandler firmly believes that he’ll be the fighter that welcomes Conor McGregor back to the UFC in 2024.
“A little over a year ago I found Hiatus Tequila,” Chandler explained. From the first sip I wanted more.”
“So I made an investment in the company, and have now been working behind the scenes with the team with our teams to try to get it in the glasses of as many people possible around the world. It’s tequila for tequila people,” he added.
Chandler says the brand’s values line up perfectly with what he believes. “It’s exactly what I try to be — authentic, true to myself,” Chandler said. “I’m excited about it and we’re gonna take it to the moon!”
Chandler told TMZ that the fight against McGregor is expected to happen during “the first quarter of 2024.”
Of course, over the years athletes and entertainers alike have made huge sums of money in the liquor industry. Perhaps none had more success than McGregor, who raked in hundreds of millions of dollars on Proper 12 whiskey.
“From everything that I’ve been hearing, first quarter of 2024 is when the [Conor McGregor] fight will be happening,” he said.
Hiatus Tequila has a new investor in MMA star Michael Chandler.

In the meantime, it appears Chandler is on a “Hiatus” for roughly a year now.
McGregor has also been on a hiatus since it’s been over two years since he last stepped into the cage for his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. He suffered a broken tibia that brought the fight to an end.
