Speaker Mike Johnson emphasized the need for Republicans to maintain unity in the House to effectively govern, as their majority is shrinking.

With the departure of key members and upcoming special elections, the GOP’s margin for passing legislation is narrowing.

“We have to keep the team together and I think everybody understands the importance of the job that we have to do,” said Speaker Johnson.

“We have to demonstrate we can govern well,” he continued.

“When we do that, I think we’ll expand the majority and we’ll be in a much better situation in the next round,” affirmed Johnson.

Amidst internal critique from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the GOP aims to demonstrate effective governance to expand their majority in the future.
