Iran’s foreign minister has expressed concerns about the potential for wider conflicts in the Middle East due to the ongoing war in Gaza.

The U.S. vetoed a UN Security Council resolution for an immediate cease-fire, leading to heightened tensions.

The UN Secretary-General has warned of a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, while Iran’s foreign minister accused the U.S. of perpetuating the conflict with its support of Israel.

“At least every week, we receive a message from the U.S. telling us that U.S. bases in Syria and Iraq are targeted by some groups,” Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said.

“At any moment, there is a possibility of a big explosion in the region, one not controllable by any party,” he added.

The situation is further complicated by attacks on U.S. bases by Iranian proxies, leading to calls for reclassifying the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization.
