New charges against Hunter Biden could emotionally impact him as his father, Joe Biden, runs for re-election in 2024.
The accusations may undermine Donald Trump’s claim that Biden controls the Department of Justice.

Hunter reportedly claimed people were “trying to kill” him and stop Joe Biden’s reelection efforts.
Despite the emotional toll, the charges may demonstrate that President Biden has not interfered with the Justice Department.
A White House official said, “Does it erode the moral high ground the president asserts as he seeks reelection? Absolutely not.”
“It helps him make that case,” they continued.
“We mean it when we say no one is above the law. It helps him paint a contrast with the other guy,” explained the official.
Adding, “No one (no Democrat) is calling this the weaponization of the Justice Department. No one is calling it that for a reason.”
While the situation is tough for Biden personally, it may not have significant political implications.
Previous polls suggest most Americans view Hunter’s legal issues as unrelated to his father’s presidency.
Some Republicans are pursuing an impeachment inquiry, but not all see Hunter Biden’s lifestyle affecting his father’s political standing.
