An 18-year-old and a 15-year-old were arrested and charged with first-degree murder during a robbery, but the 18-year-old, Edio White, has been released from jail without bail.
The incident involved the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy, Anthony Mason, on Thanksgiving in Memphis.

White’s release has sparked backlash, as it coincides with an overhaul of the bail system in Memphis, which now considers a suspect’s personal finances and ability to pay bail.
This has led to criticism from some, including Senator Marsha Blackburn, who believes that criminals should not be released from jail.
