Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has renewed her push to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, accusing him of “high crimes and misdemeanors” over his handling of border security.

The Department of Homeland Security has criticized the impeachment effort as “reckless impeachment charades” by congressional Republicans.

When asked if bothered by the impeachment, Mayorkas said, “I am busy at work and incredibly proud to support and work alongside the 260,000 people at the Department of Homeland Security.” (Trending: Disgraced Democrat Sued For Sexual Assault)

Some GOP members have expressed a desire to see Mayorkas impeached, but want to proceed in a way that ensures conviction in the Senate. Rep.

“Today, I reintroduced my articles of impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas because impeachment is EXACTLY what the founders intended for the House to do when a member of the executive branch intentionally violates the laws written by the legislative branch,” Greene posted.

“Many are demanding Mayorkas’ impeachment for ‘failing to maintain operational control of the border,’ as Congresswoman Greene’s resolution puts it. Well, he’s certainly guilty of that, and a whole lot more: maladministration, malfeasance, and neglect of duties on a truly cosmic scale. But these are not impeachable offenses,” Rep. Tom McClintock said.

“By failing to abide by due process and Constitutional constraints, Ms. Greene is tainting this serious impeachment inquiry with a shoot-from-the-hip stunt that is reckless, partisan, and manifestly unserious.”

“These members whine about ‘due process’ while protecting Mayorkas from facing accountability for his violation of our border security laws,” Greene said.

“Impeachment IS due process. It would put Mayorkas in front of the Senate to face trial. We’ve seen the evidence of him breaking the law. It’s time for the Senate to try him for it.”

Tom McClintock warned against embracing a “new definition” of impeachment, while Greene insists that impeachment is due process and wants action on the issue.
