After the Jan. 6 attack, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy publicly blamed Trump for the riot, but privately, he expressed frustration with him.
However, just 17 days later, McCarthy visited Trump at Mar-a-Lago, allegedly because Trump’s staff were worried about him.

Cheney and other Republicans were reportedly angry and disgusted by McCarthy’s visit.
“Mar-a-Lago? What the h—, Kevin?” Cheney had said.
“They’re really worried. Trump’s not eating, so they asked me to come see him,” McCarthy said.
“What? You went to Mar-a-Lago because Trump’s not eating?” Cheney asked.
“Yeah, he’s really depressed,” McCarthy responded.
“Some mocked him, circulating the Trump/McCarthy photo along with the clip from the movie ‘Jerry Maguire’ where Tom Cruise tells Renée Zellweger, ‘You … complete … me,’” she wrote.
The book is expected to contain more revelations about other GOP figures, and Cheney will discuss it on Rachel Maddow’s show.
