Phillips has a history of controversial and inflammatory statements.
Critics are questioning Deadspin’s editorial decisions in publishing the article without proper evidence.

There have been concerns about the impact of such defamatory accusations on a minor and the lack of response from Deadspin’s editor-in-chief.
