Jimmy Fallon faced criticism from some viewers for referring to trans actor Hunter Schafer as “bud” during an interview on the “Tonight” show.

The comments sparked reaction from viewers, with some expressing that the term is male-coded and a microaggression toward the transgender community.

“For Halloween, I was obsessed with how the capitol people were in costume and made my own costume,” Schafer said. (Trending: Biden Shamefully Removes God From National Address)

“Oh bud, it’s unbelievable!” Fallon responded.

“This is really cool, now you’re in ‘Hunger Games’ — as a capitol person!”

However, others defended Fallon, noting that he frequently uses the term for guests, regardless of gender.

“It’s embarrassing and I feel so bad. Sorry if I embarrassed you and your family and friends,” Fallon later said.

“I feel so bad I can’t even tell you,” he added.

“I want this show to be fun, it should be inclusive for everybody, it should be funny, it should be the best show, the best people.”

The incident follows a recent apology from Fallon for creating a toxic work environment, adding to a challenging period for the show host.
