A Manhattan judge has rejected Donald Trump’s bid for a mistrial in his $250 million civil fraud case, stating it was “utterly without merit.”

Trump’s claims of bias and improper influence from the judge’s law clerk were dismissed, with the judge emphasizing that his rulings were independent.

“As I have made clear over the course of this trial, my rulings are mine and mine alone. There is absolutely no ‘co-judging’ at play,” judge Arthur Engoron wrote. (Trending: Eight Republicans Who Shamefully Sided With Democrats Over Impeachment)

The judge also addressed allegations of bias and political contributions, deeming them baseless.

“None of this has anything to do with, much less does it interfere with, my presiding fairly, impartially, and professionally over the instant dispute, which I have now been doing for more than three years, and which I intend to do until its conclusion,” he stated.

Trump’s lawyer criticized the ruling, while Trump himself faced a gag order for discussing the law clerk publicly.

“As expected, today the court refused to take responsibility for its failure to preside over this case in an impartial and unbiased manner,” Habba pressed.

“We, however, remain undeterred and will continue to fight for our clients’ right to a fair trial.”

An appellate judge temporarily lifted the gag order, citing potential infringement on Trump’s free speech rights, particularly given his status as a potential 2024 presidential candidate.
