A number of illegal immigrants from Venezuela, among other places, are returning home from Chicago due to their disillusionment surrounding the promised benefits and opportunities in the United States.

The migrants expected free schooling for their daughter and easy access to work and legal status, but instead found themselves living in temporary shelters and struggling to find long-term employment without legal work permits.

“The American Dream doesn’t exist anymore,” said Venezuelan Michael Castejon. (Trending: Court Hands Down Crucial 2nd Amendment Ruling)

“There’s nothing here for us. We just want to be home.”

“We didn’t know things would be this hard,” he said. “I thought the process was faster.”

“How many more months of living in the streets will it take? No, no more. It’s better that I leave,” Castejon stated.

The city’s services have been overwhelmed, and local residents began opposing the influx of immigrants.

The situation has led many to leave Chicago, with some feeling that the promises made to them were not fulfilled.
