A recent New York Times/Siena College poll revealed a significant increase in former President Donald Trump’s approval rating among black voters, with 22 percent favoring him compared to 10 percent in the 2020 election.
The poll also highlighted a significant confidence gap in handling the economy, with a majority of voters preferring Trump.
CNN analysts expressed surprise and concern about these findings, pointing to challenges for President Biden’s re-election and suggesting that economic factors have contributed to the shift in black voters’ impressions. (Trending: Is It Time For Joe Biden To Drop Out Of 2024?)
CNN is visibly shaken at how well Donald Trump is polling.
"Twenty-two percent of black voters behind Trump? That is not seen in the modern era for a Republican frontrunner, right?"
“It’s startling."

“Twenty-two percent of black voters behind Trump. That is not seen in the modern era for a Republican frontrunner, right?” CNN’s Poppy Harlow said.
“It’s startling,” agreed Natasha Alford. “I looked at the Democratic response, Kevin Munoz, the spokesman for Biden, and this idea that, you know, we have a year. We can turn things around.”
“I think you have to look at this being a challenge from the very beginning, right?” she added. (Trending: CNN Poll Is Bad News For Biden)
“Black voters from the very beginning were saying that, ‘We will help you get Joe Biden into office, but, you know, this is not necessarily our preference.’ This was about democracy and saving democracy, and so here we are a year later. He has not been able to change their impression.”
Additionally, an earlier ABC poll showed a substantial decline in President Biden’s approval rating among black voters.
