Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee is opposing President Joe Biden’s request for additional taxpayer aid to Gaza, arguing that it will benefit Hamas.
She claims that the United States is enabling terrorism by providing up to $9 billion in alleged humanitarian aid.
Blackburn says the Biden administration knows Hamas will steal the funds.
Biden is seeking a total of $105 billion for “Ukraine and Israel.”
“The United States is once again poised to enable terrorism against our greatest ally in the Middle East with up to $9 billion in alleged humanitarian aid,” a statement from Blackburn’s office said.
“UNRWA officials aren’t just complicit — they are active participants in Hamas’ terror, courtesy of the American taxpayer. There is incontrovertible proof that UNRWA officials have played a key role in breeding the next generation of Hamas extremists,” the statement said.
“It is clear that U.S. aid intended for the Palestinian people has repeatedly ended up in the hands of terrorists,” Blackburn said at the time.
The far-left president is accused of using Israel to increase funding to Ukraine, which has already received over $113 billion.
Blackburn has introduced legislation to halt funding for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), accusing its officials of being complicit in Hamas’ activities.
She cites documented cases of Hamas benefiting from U.S. aid and argues that the UNRWA is a pro-Hamas organization.
Biden has acknowledged the risk of Hamas diverting or stealing the assistance.
“UNRWA teachers and educational materials call for the murder of Jews, and the Biden administration should immediately halt all funding for the agency. The U.S. government should not be funding terrorists.”
“If Hamas diverts or steals the assistance, it will have demonstrated once again that they have no concern for the welfare of the Palestinian people in the end,” Biden said on October 18.
