The courts are rightfully working to silence the disturbing lies and verbal attacks of 2024 Republican frontrunner Donald Trump with multiple gag orders.

A Trump campaign spokesperson called the ruling “an absolute abomination and another partisan knife stuck in the heart of our Democracy.”

“President Trump will continue to fight for our Constitution, the American people’s right to support him, and to keep our country free of the chains of weaponized and targeted law enforcement,” the spokesperson said in a statement shared by the campaign. The left-wing American Civil Liberties Union has surprised Republicans after condemning U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan’s gag order against Donald Trump in an amicus brief, noting that due to the language of the order, the former President “cannot possibly know what he is permitted to say.”

The ACLU has historically opposed Trump vehemently, but has willingly come to his defense regarding the order.

The brief notes that “the entire order hinges on the meaning of the word ‘target.’ But that meaning is ambiguous, and fails to provide the fair warning that the Constitution demands, especially when, as here, it concerns a prior restraint on speech.” (Trending: Biden Completely Botches Iconic American Quote)

“Reading the order, Defendant cannot possibly know what he is permitted to say, and what he is not. ‘Target’ is an inherently vague term,” it added.

“The obvious and unprecedented public interest in this prosecution, as well as the widespread political speech that it has generated and will continue to generate, only underscores the need to apply the most stringent First Amendment standard to a restraint on Defendant’s speech rights.”

“If we allow his free speech rights to be abridged, we know that other unpopular voices — even ones we agree with — will also be silenced,” the ACLU concluded.
