Fox News co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy spoke with residents of South Bronx who voiced their dissatisfaction with the current state of the nation under President Biden’s administration.
Residents characterized Donald Trump as supportive of the “little man.”
Rev. Ruben Diaz Sr., who leads New York’s Hispanic Clergy Association, said, “Senior citizens cannot walk down the street. Our children are being killed. When you go to a grocery store, you can’t even buy anything anymore.”
He continued, “I’m a Democrat. All my life I’ve been a Democrat, but Democrats have used us and abused us, they think that they own us. Donald Trump is giving us an opportunity.”
A voter informed Campos-Duffy that Republicans should recognize that not all registered Democrats are necessarily voting for Democratic candidates.
Another individual pointed out that Trump’s visit to the Bronx reflects a gesture of respect towards the community. The voter told Fox News, “I happen to be one of those Democrats that hasn’t voted Democrat since the age of Ronald Reagan.”
Trump held a campaign rally in the Bronx, which signifies a notable shift from 2021 when he left the White House. The rally was held in Crotona Park near Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s district.
Trump recently held a record-breaking rally in New Jersey gathering around 100,000 supporters.
A Bronx resident said that Trump is warmly embraced with “open arms.” “Everyone needs help,” the resident said.
“Instead of giving migrants and everybody that’s coming from other countries help, we’re here. We’re Americans. Give us some help,” the resident added.
A resident told Fox News that Trump is a preferable choice compared to re-electing Biden. The resident continued, “I can tell you that the Bronx has been through many changes, everything was getting back on track, and now everything is falling apart again.”
Another resident said, “Just let us know exactly what you’re going to do for everyone. Not just the Hispanic community, not just the Black and the minority communities, but for America. Because when America succeeds, we all succeed.”
A resident added, “Black people and Hispanic people are very happy about him coming here, and they want to see the options, and they want to see Democrats step their game up. Republicans have an opportunity here that they can’t let go.”
