Sunny Hostin

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin unleashed on Fulton County DA Fani Willis and her ex-boyfriend Nathan Wade.

Hostin argued that they jeopardized the prosecution of former President Trump in Georgia. Hostin says that workplace romances are “professional suicide.”

Fani Willis

During a segment on “The View,” co-host Sunny Hostin strongly criticized Fulton County DA Fani Willis and her former partner Nathan Wade for compromising the case. Hostin said, “I think this was one of the biggest unforced errors almost in our nation’s history. You do not have an office affair when our very democracy is on the line, and you can do something to prevent it from going over the edge. It was a stupid, stupid thing to do.”

Election interference

The co-defendants in the Trump election interference case in Georgia accused Willis and Wade of engaging in an “inappropriate” affair. Wade made the decision to resign in order for Willis to proceed with the prosecution of the high-profile case.

Negative outcomes

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin expressed her alignment with Hostin’s viewpoint and admitted to avoiding dating individuals in her immediate work environment due to concerns about potential negative outcomes.

Workplace romance

Sara Haines, one of the co-hosts, shared her own experience with workplace romance and pondered how some individuals manage to avoid developing feelings for their colleagues given the amount of time spent together.

Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg commented on the unpredictability of both love and lust, prompting Hostin to humorously question, “Can one fall in love right after saving democracy?”

Prosecution team

The disclosure of Willis and Wade’s romantic involvement added complexity to the Georgia case against Trump and his associates. In a 23-page ruling in March, Judge Scott McAfee stated that the defense failed to prove a clear conflict of interest but acknowledged the presence of an appearance of impropriety that could only be resolved by removing Wade or Willis. As a result, Wade chose to step down from the prosecution team.

Willis and Wade

Willis and Wade maintain that their relationship naturally developed during their professional collaboration and that they were not romantically involved prior to Wade’s employment.

Phone records

However, Ashleigh Merchant, who raised allegations against Willis in court, testified that Wade’s phone records indicated late-night visits to Willis’ residence before his hiring.

workplace relationships

During an interview with MSNBC’s Joy Reid, Wade clarified his previous comment about workplace relationships being as common as apple pie, emphasizing that it was not meant to trivialize the situation but rather to highlight the universality of such occurrences.

He explained that his relationship with Willis was initially professional and developed naturally over time without any deliberate intent.

Desire for attention

Wade addressed the ongoing Georgia election interference case and dismissed Trump’s criticisms of his connection with Willis, attributing Trump’s remarks to a desire for attention.

Provocative statements

Wade expressed his belief that individuals who make provocative statements for attention will face consequences, cautioning Trump about an impending “day of reckoning.”

Death threats

Despite receiving death threats, Wade mentioned that he and Willis maintain frequent communication and continue to share a close friendship.

During the interview with Reid, Wade expressed that Willis is the sole individual in the world who truly understands his experiences, just as he comprehends hers.
