Swiss rapper Nemo won the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with their song “The Code”, becoming the first non-binary performer to win.
While Israeli singer Eden Golan received large public support and votes that initially put Israel in the lead, they ultimately placed fifth amid heavy anti-Israel demonstrations in Malmö, Sweden over their participation as a Russian-Israeli singer.
Nemo emphasized a message of peace and dignity for all in their acceptance speech.

“I want to say thank you so much, I hope this contest can live up to its promise and continue to stand for peace and dignity for every person in this world,” Nemo said.
