The Biden campaign is planning a major fundraising event in Los Angeles headlined by former President Obama and featuring celebrities like George Clooney and Julia Roberts.
This represents their latest effort to boost fundraising as Biden’s poll numbers lag.
A similar New York City event earlier this year raised $26 million.
The LA event will include a social media contest run by Clooney and Roberts to energize grassroots donors and celebrity surrogates.
However, Biden continues to trail former President Trump in small-dollar donations that make up the majority of Trump’s re-election war chest.
Only 38% of Biden’s current donations come from small donors, compared to 61% for Trump.
Biden is more reliant on large donations, with 35% of funds coming from contributions over $2,000 versus just 9% for Trump.
