Hundreds of anti-Israel protesters marched through Penn Station in New York City to take a train to Columbia University on April 30, 2024.

Video showed protesters chanting pro-Palestinian slogans and carrying flags as they made their way to the A train.

“Uptown A train you will see. Palestine is almost free,” they chanted.

Earlier, protesters had demonstrated at other universities.

At Columbia, access was restricted in response to protesters seizing an academic building the previous morning, smashing glass and barricading doors while hanging banners.

An initial encampment on April 17 led to suspensions, and a second encampment emerged after the first was removed.

Similar encampments had formed at other universities, as tensions escalated between pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel student groups on campuses nationwide.
