Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has pledged to deploy guardsmen to Texas in response to the ongoing immigration crisis at the Mexican border, criticizing President Biden’s inaction.

Kemp emphasized that the deployment is pending a formal request from Texas and highlighted the need for federal action, as he and other governors visited the border to witness the situation firsthand.

“We’re still waiting for the written request from Texas – we’re not going to send them whenever we want to help. We know this is a national issue, and unfortunately, the president could fix this, but he’s not acting,” Kemp said.

He also pointed out the lack of action from other border state governors.

“We’ve had people down there since 2019, and I’ve been down there five times,” he said.

“I’ve seen when the federal government and the state governments were cooperating, and saw how successful that was and how it flowed to the tide of illegal immigration and mass migration coming across our southern border,” Kemp said.

Kemp emphasized the importance of keeping pressure on the Biden administration for policy change and stressed the need for Republicans to focus on issues rather than engaging in negative rhetoric.

“We don’t need to just be talking bad about the other side,” he said. “We need to give people a reason to vote for us based on issues.”
