The Daily Show correspondent Desi Lydic criticized Fox News host Jesse Watters for his biased coverage of the Hunter Biden story and FBI informant Alexander Smirnov.
Watters had repeatedly praised Smirnov as “highly credible” when he made claims against Joe Biden, but Smirnov has since been indicted for making false statements.
Lydic said, “Wow! Highly credible, multilingual, proficient at Excel, a good tipper, a generous lover, always puts the seat down.”
“This guy is rock-solid. Bulletproof. Impeachment case closed!” she teased.
Rather than correct the record, Watters doubled down, accusing Biden of arresting enemies and claiming his family faces no consequences.
Watters said, “Everyone who blows the whistle on the Biden crime syndicate, or is connected to it, has been arrested.”
“Biden is a smooth operator,” he continued.
Watters added, “You’ve got to hand it to the big guy: He’s getting away with it.”
When Lydic expected an apology, Watters instead attacked Biden further.
Lydic joked Watters responded by accusing Biden rather than admitting a mistake, and said different outlets have varying standards, where some correct errors while Watters issues accusations on social media.
Lydic replied, “That was an interesting way to say ‘I’m sorry. I made a mistake.’”
“But I personally would not have responded to this by accusing Biden of arresting his enemies, but hey—every news outlet has different standards. Some issue corrections; Jesse issues an all-caps Facebook comment,” she continued.
Lydic concluded, “That’s the beauty of free speech: you can say whatever you want out of your big, dumb mouth.”
