Disney is under scrutiny for claiming it has generated a 2.9 times return on its $4 billion purchase of Lucasfilm in 2012.

Using financial data from box office grosses and budgets, however, Forbes calculated Disney has actually lost over $3 billion thus far.

“The total net profits from Disney’s five Star Wars movies [is] $1.2 billion which is $2.8 billion short of the purchase price of Lucasfilm,” Forbes wrote.

The five Star Wars films together netted $1.2 billion in profit, far short of recouping the purchase price.

The streaming shows and theme parks also lost money.

Critics argued Disney has “woke-raped” the franchises, damaging their brands and alienating longtime fans.
