Dozens of prospective jurors were dismissed on the first day of jury selection for Donald Trump’s criminal trial in New York.

Of the 96 initially called, over 50 said they could not be impartial, including over two dozen white women, 14 white men, four Asian women and one Asian man and Hispanic woman.

“I just couldn’t do it,” one prospective juror said.

Only 36 remained by the end of the day.

Trump is charged with falsifying business records related to hush money payments during the 2016 campaign.

Jury selection is proving challenging in heavily Democratic New York City.

Trump has accused the DA of attempting to interfere with a potential 2024 run.

“This conflicted, Trump Hating Judge won’t let me respond to people that are on TV lying and spewing hate all day long,” Trump wrote.

“He is running rough shod over my lawyers and legal team. The New York System of ‘Justice’ is being decimated by critics from all over the World,” he said. “I want to speak, or at least be able to respond.

“Election Interference! RIGGED, UNCONSTITUTIONAL TRIAL! Take off the Gag Order!!!”

The trial stems from payments made to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, who alleged affairs with Trump.

If convicted, Trump faces financial penalties but no jail time.

He has criticized the trial and judge via Truth Social, calling it a “RIGGED, UNCONSTITUTIONAL TRIAL.”

Selection continues amid intensive screening of potential jurors.
