Tiger Woods set a new Masters record by making his 25th consecutive cut at Augusta National, surpassing Fred Couples and Gary Player who had made 23 straight.

While Woods has not played every year since turning pro, when he does play he has made the cut every time dating back to 1995.

After an up and down first two rounds left him at 1 over par, he comfortably made the cut line of 4 over.

No other active player has made more than 14 straight cuts. The streak underscores Woods’ dominance and familiarity with the course over many years, though he faces an uphill battle trailing by 8 shots going into the weekend as he pursues a sixth green jacket.

“It’s just an amazing aura that Augusta National has, and I’m lucky to have come here since I was 19,” Woods said.

“I’m still right there in the ball game,” he said, “with a good chance going into the weekend.”
