Barron Trump
Barron Trump has had to face relentless criticism directed at his family and the constant worry that the Democrats might take actions against his father, all before reaching the age of 18.
Shy and reserved
“Barron is shy and reserved, and she has been a good mother to him all of these years,” a social source close to the family told People magazine, referring to former first lady Melania Trump’s efforts to protect her son from the glare of the spotlight.
Public eye
At a young age, Barron Trump was suddenly in the public eye when his father became President. Unlike his siblings who were accustomed to media attention, Barron was reluctant to move to Washington, D.C., choosing to keep his life in New York as normal as possible.
Lot of friends
“He has a very good school in New York where he has a lot of friends,” Donald Trump told People at the time. “But I tell him if this happens, Daddy will help people, and can help children like him, and that makes him happy. He’s a young boy who is 9 years old and he is strong and smart and he gets it. He sees it.”
Penthouse
While his father was away helping others, Barron stayed back. Initially, during the early months of his father’s presidency, Barron continued living in the luxurious Trump Tower penthouse, attending his exclusive private school and leading a materially comfortable but somewhat isolated life from his father.
Oxbridge Academy
Later on, Barron relocated to Washington and switched to Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida, following his parents’ departure from the White House.
Notable height
Despite his notable height of 6-foot-7, Barron managed to maintain a low profile and steer clear of any controversies, which would have undoubtedly attracted media attention if he had been involved in any.
Well-behaved
Despite his well-behaved nature, Barron has been subjected to numerous online attacks by malicious trolls simply because of his father’s identity.
Chelsea Clinton
The attacks were so vicious that even former first daughter Chelsea Clinton came to his defense, urging people online to leave the boy alone, as reported by People.
Graduate
This year, Barron is set to graduate from high school, and like any child, regardless of their family background, he would naturally want his father present to witness this milestone.
Unfortunately
Unfortunately, it appears that this customary experience that most children take for granted may not happen for Barron, as Trump’s first criminal trial is scheduled to coincide with his high school graduation ceremony.
Hush money
The trial, focused on Trump’s alleged “hush money” payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, began with jury selection on Monday in a Manhattan courtroom.
Legal proceedings
During the legal proceedings, New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan disclosed that Trump’s legal team had formally requested permission for the former president to be absent from the trial on May 17 in order to attend Barron’s high school graduation in Florida, as reported by the New York Post.
Merchan clarified
However, Merchan clarified that he had not made a decision on the request yet, stating, “It really depends on our progress and the stage of the trial.”
Jury selection
With jury selection anticipated to extend for up to two weeks, there is a possibility that the graduation date could be at risk.
Frustration
Expressing his frustration, Trump informed journalists, “As you are aware, my son is graduating from high school and it appears that the judge may not permit me to attend my son’s graduation, despite his significant efforts. He is an excellent student, and we are immensely proud of his achievements.”
For years
“I was looking forward, for years, to that graduation with his mother and father there, and it looks like the judge isn’t going to allow me to escape this scam.”
Trump’s legal team
Trump’s legal team had requested the removal of Judge Merchan, pointing out his donations to Democratic politicians and his daughter’s role as a Democratic consultant as reasons for their concern.
No bias
In response, the judge stated that there was no bias present and that the court’s primary objectives were to adhere to the law and ensure justice, as reported by Fox News.
Rejected
Merchan had previously rejected Trump’s plea to be excused from the trial on April 25 to attend Supreme Court arguments regarding his presidential immunity in the election interference charges he is facing.
Gag order
Additionally, the judge imposed a gag order on the former president, limiting what he could publicly discuss about the case.
Circumstances
Considering the circumstances, it appears improbable that Merchan will show leniency and allow Trump to be present at his son’s graduation.
