Tucker Carlson, the ex-Fox News anchor who currently operates his own streaming platform, had a conversation with Pastor Doug Wilson from Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho, labeling him as “the Christian nationalist that was cautioned about.”

Against Christianity

Tucker Carlson

In his show, “The Tucker Carlson Encounter,” Carlson introduced the interview by suggesting that President Joe Biden, in his campaign for re-election, is essentially running against Christianity.

Christian nationalism

Tucker Carlson

“Of course, you’re not going to say, ‘I’m running against Christianity,’ the world’s largest religion. You’re going to say, ‘I’m running against something called Christian nationalism,’” the conservative firebrand explained.

Threat

Tucker Carlson

Democrats are seeking to “traditional Christianity seem like a threat to the country rather than the principle upon which it was founded,” Carlson argued.

Mere Christendom

Tucker Carlson

He characterized Wilson, author of the book “Mere Christendom,” as one of the “rare American Christian pastors who is willing to engage on questions of culture and politics.”

Warned you

Tucker Carlson

Or, as Carlson phrased it in the post that carried the video to the social media platform X, Wilson is “the Christian nationalist they warned you about.”

Interpretation

Tucker Carlson

During their conversation, Carlson inquired about the preacher’s interpretation of Christian nationalism.

Wilson highlighted

NBC News

Wilson highlighted a distinction made by a media personality, specifically MSNBC panelist and Politico journalist Heidi Przybyla, who differentiated Christian nationalists from Christians by noting that the former believe that rights originate from God rather than the government.

Thomas Jefferson

NBC News

According to Wilson, under this definition, even Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence, would be categorized as a Christian nationalist by those on the left.

Hate Christianity

NBC News

“The left really does hate Christianity,” Wilson contended.

Explanation

And he had an explanation for why that is.

Control

“They want to control absolutely everything, because they’re aspiring to deity,” he said.

Above them

“The reason they’re aspiring to deity is because they don’t recognize any God above them.”

No God

If there is no God then “the state becomes god, and it assumes the prerogatives of deity,” he explained.

Adam and Eve

Wilson highlighted the familiar temptation presented by the devil to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden: the promise that if they disobeyed the Creator’s instructions, they would become like God.

Religious leader

The religious leader holds the belief that the country’s spiritual state cannot be resolved through political means.

Repent of its sin

“The United States needs to repent of its sin, to use an old-fashioned term … and turn back to God,” Wilson said. “That’s what is necessary and we need preachers who are willing to tell them to do that, to proclaim that this is what you must do.”

Opportunity

The focus is not on judgment, but rather on the opportunity for redemption and deliverance by embracing Christ’s sacrifice for humanity’s transgressions and experiencing a spiritual rebirth.

America needs Jesus

Wilson concluded: “So America needs Jesus. America doesn’t need to turn over a new leaf, America needs a new life.”

Reverend Wilson forgets that Thomas Jefferson was one of the primary Framers of the idea of the separation of church and state.

Congress once declared that the Bible was “The Word of God” in a Public Law 97-280 on October 4, 1982, authorizing and requesting the President to proclaim 1983 as the “Year of the Bible”. Many of our great national leaders – among them, Presidents Washington, Jackson, Lincoln, and Wilson – paid tribute to the surpassing influence of the Bible in our country’s development, as in the words of President Jackson that the Bible is the “living rock on which our Republic rests.” Try it in this Congress full of self important folk today where many have forgotten God or serve gods who kill, steal and destroy life. To believe in Jesus Christ, the son of the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, or Jacob is to be scrutinized, demonized, and terrorized by godless governments worldwide. When wicked unbelieving leaders who say they know who Jesus Christ is, but do the opposite of His teachings, make it clear who labor among us today.’ Using a letter and distorting the intent of it by quoting it often as if it is a law doesn’t blind the true believing Christian wherever they may worship. Its not about a religion, its about a Christ. with only a letter taken out of context, there is no law to govern a separation of church and state. When any man, law or government directs one must worship their man, law or government before they worship the true and living son of God, Jesus Christ, it is heresy. Such as the Coventers, escaping the King of England by boat in the middle of the night while being hunted down to face prison time, maiming and death rather than agree the King was the sole authority before God. Those are my ancestors who after escaping, arrived safely on the shores of Cape Fear in America to establish the first mission of the Presbyterian Church from Wales in Godwin N.C. during the 1600’s. Using the Bible to teach their young as did America do until the 60’s, our children were taught prayerful obedience to the ten commandments out of which many great leaders were formed. Patrick Henry said, “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ!”
“Happy is the nation whose God IS the Lord.” “When the righteous rule, the people rejoice.” We must pray God’s mercy on our leaders, and ourselves as we repent for our own neglect and sin, returning to sanity and sanctity in our hearts, home and country. God bless those who still believe in Jesus Christ, who have not turned their back on what they know to be true, and God bless the USA. Land of the free.
