‘The View’ hosts forced to evacuate
The atmosphere on “The View” took a dramatic turn when the show’s hosts and crew had to evacuate the studio, finding themselves out on the street capturing a chaotic scene involving first responders.
Fire broke out
As reported by the Daily Caller and shown in videos shared by co-host Whoopi Goldberg, the team had started filming and had just delved into the “Hot Topics” segment when they were informed that a fire had broken out in the neighboring building. The fire originated in a kitchen studio used for Tamron Hall’s cooking show.
Evacuate the studio
“We walked out to Billy Joel’s hit ‘We Didn’t Start the Fire’ because it actually happened next door at Tamron Hall’s,” she said in the clip. “This morning we had to evacuate the studio, because there was a fire, that we did not start. We don’t know who started it, we don’t know what started it.”
Emergency services
On Instagram, Hall mentioned that some of her team needed assistance from emergency services, but assured her followers that “everyone is safe.” In a video clip where her show’s set was stripped down, Hall provided further details.
Real smoke show
“You might say we had a real smoke show around here,” said said. “We had a grease fire in our kitchen” that prompted a huge response by the city’s fire department. Clips from the street front showed multiple fire engines parked at the ready.
Concerned
During the remote discussion, Ana Navarro informed the show’s audience after they resumed the program that she was deeply affected by the unfolding events and was primarily concerned about the well-being of her colleagues.
Empty
“And it was dark, empty, and alarms, and flashing lights,” she said. “I thought ‘holy hell.’”
Disrupted
Alyssa Griffin humorously remarked on the situation, quipping that the unexpected incident had disrupted her preparations with the hair and makeup team.
Priorities
“It really made me understand my priorities, because once I saw all the hosts were fine, I was like, where is my glam team? Like, leave Brian, but as long as hair and makeup are safe …” she said.
Dangerous
“It was really dangerous to see us on the street without hair and make-up!” Joy Behar chimed in.
We did not
“Tamron did not start the fire. We did not, either,” Goldberg added.
