A recent poll shows the 2024 Montana Senate race is close, with Republican candidate Tim Sheehy holding a 3-point lead over incumbent Democrat Jon Tester.
The J.L. Partners poll of roughly 500 voters from late March gave Sheehy, a former Navy SEAL, 48% support compared to 45% for Tester, with 7% undecided.
Sheehy polled better with men and older voters, while Tester led with women, independents and younger groups.

Sheehy announced his campaign in June 2023, saying he wanted to create a better future for children.
He received an endorsement from Donald Trump against initial GOP opponent Matt Rosendale, who dropped his Senate bid days after launching.
Tester has held the seat since 2006 and was narrowly reelected in 2018 over Rosendale by less than 3 percentage points.
Tester is the only Democrat currently holding statewide office in Montana.
