Former President Donald Trump raised over $50 million at a recent fundraiser, helping close the financial gap with Democrats.
However, Republicans cannot relax as they face not just Democrats but the entire federal government due to actions taken under President Biden.
A NY Congresswoman cited malicious Trump prosecutions and Biden’s executive order weaponizing federal agencies and employees to register voters.
This gives Democrats access to 2.9 million federal workers to boost voter registration and turnout, compared to private funds which some claim helped hand the close 2020 election to Biden.
While states have banned private election funds, Biden’s order requires federal agencies promote voter registration using their platforms and resources.
Left-leaning groups estimate this could generate over 3.5 million new registrations annually, more than Biden’s margin of victory.
Some see this as federal overreach while Democrats push for widespread nonpartisan registration which could now favor Republicans as non-voters lean more right.
Monitoring the entire federal government ahead of the 2022 midterms will be challenging for Republicans.
