National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan was the target of a protest where manure was thrown at his home and a suspicious package was left by pro-Palestinian activists.

The incident was in response to the Biden administration abstaining from a UN resolution calling for an Israel-Hamas ceasefire.

A bomb squad responded to the suspicious package while police investigated and cleaned up.

“The Metropolitan Police Department’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal team responded and declared the scene as safe,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi stated. “The incident is under investigation.”

It’s the latest instance of Sullivan, who has faced previous security lapses, being targeted by far-left groups calling for peace in the Middle East.

The White House maintained its support for a ceasefire as part of negotiations, saying its abstention did not represent a shift in policy from brokering an agreement it could endorse to end the conflict in Gaza.

“Today, as you all know, we abstained on the U.N. Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza until the end of Ramadan and the release of all the hostages. Our vote does not — I repeat — does not represent a shift in our policy,” White House national security spokesman John Kirby stated.

“We’ve been very clear, we’ve been very consistent in our support for a ceasefire as part of a hostage deal. That’s how the hostage deal was structured and the resolution acknowledges the ongoing talks.”
