Alina Habba, Donald Trump’s lawyer, celebrated an appellate court’s decision to reduce his bond in a civil fraud case from $454 million to $175 million.
She criticized New York AG Letitia James, saying she would be serving James “humble pie” going forward.
“I hope she took a little piece of humble pie today because that’s what was served to her, just a little, but we’ll be serving a lot more of that in the next couple of years,” Habba said.

While James said the lowered bond does not change Trump’s liability ruling, the reduction potentially prevents Trump from losing control over his finances and properties.
Meanwhile, a new poll shows Trump leading Biden by 11 points in a hypothetical 2024 Texas matchup, more than double his 2020 margin of victory in the state.
“Donald Trump is still facing accountability for his staggering fraud,” AG James stated. “The court has already found that he engaged in years of fraud to falsely inflate his net worth and unjustly enrich himself, his family, and his organization. The $464 million judgment—plus interest—against Donald Trump and the other defendants still stands.”
“Independents, who Biden carried by 6 percentage points in 2020, now break for Trump. Trump receives 56% of Texas independents to 41% for Biden,” the Marist release states.
Trump has gained support among Black and Latino voters in Texas compared to 2020.
The poll also showed Republican Ted Cruz leading Democrat Colin Allred by 6 points in their Senate race.
