President Biden is growing increasingly worried about his reelection prospects as the 2024 election approaches.

A recent report indicated he angrily lashed out at advisers in January after being told his poll numbers had dropped in key swing states like Georgia and Michigan due to his handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

“President Joe Biden was seething,” one report noted. “In a private meeting at the White House in January, allies of the president had just told him that his poll numbers in Michigan and Georgia had dropped over his handling of the war between Israel and Hamas.”

Since then, Biden’s approval ratings have continued falling nationally and in battleground states, with some polls now showing him trailing former President Trump.

“Both are battleground states he narrowly won four years ago, and he can’t afford any backsliding if he is to once again defeat Donald Trump. He began to shout and swear, a lawmaker familiar with the meeting said. He believed he had been doing what was right, despite the political fallout, he told the group, according to the lawmaker,” the report said.

The White House disputed the characterization of Biden’s reaction but acknowledges challenges like high inflation are impacting voter sentiment.

“President Biden makes national security decisions based on the country’s national security needs alone — no other factor,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates stated.

With roughly eight months until the election and many voters open to switching candidates or supporting third parties, the outcome remains uncertain as Biden and Trump make their cases on issues like the economy, immigration, and threats to democracy.
