A passenger on an American Airlines flight from Tampa to Philadelphia was detained by police after hurling antisemitic slurs at a flight attendant, which led to an altercation on the plane.

Video showed the man verbally abusing crew and passengers before calling an attendant a derogatory ethnic slur for Jews.

As unrest grew, he accused others of conspiring against him while using antisemitic and other derogatory language.

Passengers and crew then directed him off the plane, where he claimed to be schizophrenic.

The man was arrested outside and charged with disorderly intoxication and battery.

“I’m schizophrenic,” the passenger said while in a headlock.

“So am I – walk,” the individual restraining him said.

Tampa police confirmed responding to a disturbance on the plane due to the disruptive customer.

American Airlines thanked staff for their professionalism and apologized to passengers for the delay.

“We thank our team for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” American Airlines stated.
