Vice President Kamala Harris announced $750 million in funding for red flag laws while speaking at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, site of the 2018 mass shooting.
She toured the part of the school where the attack occurred and made two announcements.
First, the Biden administration is creating a National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center with the $750 million to fund it.
Second, she urged state legislatures to use the federal money to pass red flag laws, which allow communities and law enforcement to remove guns from those deemed a danger.
Harris said red flag laws give warnings before tragedy occurs and challenged every state to pass one.
However, FBI data showed California led the nation in active shooter incidents in 2021 despite having adopted a red flag law in 2014.
