Former CNN host Don Lemon was set to launch a new show on Elon Musk’s social media platform X, but the partnership was abruptly canceled.
Lemon accused X of acting on Musk’s whims and suppressing his content.
“It would seem to defy credulity that if 21 million people engaged with my post on X announcing my new show, that only a few hundred thousand would be interested in the interview on X as of this afternoon,” Lemon said. “It just doesn’t make sense.”
No suppression here– X believes in free speech. You might want to check YouTube, there’s only 188K views! https://t.co/PtajB8COb3

His interview with Musk was eventually released on X and YouTube.
However, Lemon told media outlets the interview was being suppressed on X despite hundreds of thousands of views.
“X is obviously suppressing free speech. Don’s interview was suppressed by X so less people view it,” Lemon’s representative stated.
X and others noted similarly low views on YouTube.
While Lemon framed it as a free speech issue, the saga appears to have been more of a publicity stunt for Lemon to generate headlines, as user comments criticized his confrontational interview style.
“This interview is antagonistic and rude. I completely see why Elon decided to go in another direction. It was not hard hitting journalism but rather an attempt at a ‘got ya’ session by Don that he is trying to squeeze for every last bit of attention. The ride is almost over,” one X user wrote.
