The trailer for the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series “The Acolyte” has caused a significant stir across the industry.

While the trailer seemed intriguing, enthusiasm has been dampened by Star Wars saturation on Disney+ and questions about the showrunner Leslye Headland’s background.

Headland had a brief and unremarkable career prior to this major Star Wars project.

She also had a short stint working for disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein years ago.

“The thing is, the play is so much not about the boss. And when I was an assistant, I worked for a lot of different people,” Headland said in 2012. “I worked for the copresident of production at Miramax. I work for Harvey for about a year, and then I worked for Arianna Huffington for about a month. It was a job I did for a while.”

While there is no evidence connecting Headland, Disney or Lucasfilm to Weinstein’s crimes, her association has made some fans uneasy about her involvement in “The Acolyte.”

The show is set for release on June 4.
