He trailed Trump by double digits among men (54%-40%) and voters under 50 (54%-42%). Only 27% of Democrats were satisfied with Biden as their choice, while 66% wished for other options – a situation described as “problematic” for Biden’s get-out-the-vote efforts.
Republicans strongly favored Trump by 58%-34%, whereas independents and Democrats largely wanted other choices beyond just Biden and Trump. (Trending: New Bombshell FBI Docs Blow Trump Case Wide Open)
“That’s really problematic in terms of trying to get your voters to come out this fall,” Meredith College Political Science professor David McLennan said of Biden. “When you talk about a third of your own party’s voters are glad to have you, and two-thirds are not? I can’t remember a presidential candidate being in that situation in recent history.”
The poll signals Trump is well-positioned in North Carolina for 2024, while Biden faces dissatisfaction within his own party and challenges motivating key demographics.
