President Biden had a noticeable pause while speaking where he seemed to lose his train of thought.
He referred to John McCain as his “predecessor friend,” which left listeners puzzled as McCain was a fellow senator and presidential candidate but never president.
“Tremendous amount of things you can cut, maybe precisely, tremendous amount of things you can do, not cut. tremendous amount of things you can do, not cut. He said, I will, and the bottom line is, he’s still at it,” Biden said.

“Not long ago, my buddy John McCain passed away.”
“My predecessor friend, that’s how he ended his career,” Biden said.
Earlier in February, Special Counsel Robert Hur released a report on the president’s mismanagement of information that noted his memory shows “significant limitations.”
The episode fueled existing concerns about the president’s mental acuity and capacity for his demanding role, with debates emerging across viewpoints.
