Actress Patricia Heaton publicly criticized actor Mark Ruffalo for using the Oscars red carpet to make political statements supporting abortion rights and Hamas in Gaza.
Heaton called out Ruffalo after he posted a photo with co-star Rami Youssef wearing a red lapel pin for Artists for Ceasefire, which advocates for Hamas’ goal of a permanent ceasefire.
“The heart symbol you are using here seems nice, but the cause supports the killing of 27 million females globally a year. Your red lapel pin celebrates the lynching and disembowelment of two Israeli soldiers by a Palestinian mob,” Heaton wrote.
Hi Mark. The heart symbol you are using here seems nice, but the cause supports the killing of 27 million females globally a year. Your red lapel pin celebrates the lynching and disembowelment of two Israeli soldiers by a Palestinian mob. Why do you support so much violence? https://t.co/jCYXQImNBz

Heaton questioned why Ruffalo supports “so much violence” by promoting Hamas, viewed as a terrorist group by some.
“Why do you support so much violence?” Heaton asked.
Other celebrities including Billie Eilish and Ava DuVernay also wore the ceasefire pin.
