Calf-roper Marty Yates and his wife faced heavy traffic on the way to the Houston rodeo semifinals.

To avoid being late, Marty rode his horse the rest of the way to NRG Stadium, where he competed and won his set.

“Marty Yates does what it takes to get to the Houston Short Round!” Marty’s wife, Loni Kay Yates wrote. “We gotta provide for that baby. Finals bound in Houston!! He and our mare Cyndy won his semi-final set (Wednesday night) but barely made it due to Houston traffic.”

The daring move was captured on video and went viral on social media.

“Way to go Marty!!! The warm up down the interstate was a key factor in this W!” read one comment under Loni’s post. “Best Houston story of the year!!!! Heck maybe rodeo story of the year,” one comment read. (Trending: New Bombshell FBI Docs Blow Trump Case Wide Open)
