Jon Stewart received criticism for dismissing concerns over violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants during a segment on his Comedy Central show.

Stewart failed to mention the murder of Laken Riley, a Georgia nursing student killed while jogging by an illegal alien from Venezuela who had been recently released into the U.S. interior under Biden’s border policies.

Stewart mocked the idea of illegal immigration being an election issue and suggested open borders align with American values, without distinguishing between legal and illegal status.

“When it comes to immigration, the Democrats hold to our country’s cherished ideals, the eternal promise etched at the feet of Lady Liberty that speak to our better angels,” Stewart said.

However, polling shows illegal immigration rising as a priority issue for Americans amid incidents like the rape of a disabled person in Boston by an illegal alien, the killing of a Washington state trooper by an illegal alien, and the drugging and rape of girls in Minnesota linked to 11 illegal alien men.

While Stewart portrayed Republican concern as overblown, experts note the Biden administration has allowed millions to cross unvetted, fueling unease on both sides of the political aisle around the growing ties between illegal immigration and violent crime cases.
