Republican Rep. Cory Mills of Florida helped rescue 10 American citizens trapped in Haiti amid political turmoil, continuing a pattern of private evacuations after the Biden administration allegedly failed to act.
Mills, who previously rescued Americans from Afghanistan, organized the mission for citizens including a journalist working at an orphanage.
Mills said, “There’s a clear pattern of abandonment. Yet again, this group was left behind by Biden and his State Department after requesting their help in-country.”

Mills noted that the mission “reiterates a disturbing reality under President Biden’s leadership: American lives are continually jeopardized.”
“I have led missions to rescue Americans multiple times when Joe Biden has deserted them.”
GOP Rep. Lisa McClain also assisted, contacting Mills after learning one of her constituents was stranded.
The State Department reportedly offered only to be notified of dangers and wait for rescue, rather than providing meaningful help.
Mills and McClain criticized Biden for what they see as a disturbing pattern of abandoning Americans during international crises, saying the administration prioritizes other issues over protecting citizens abroad.
“The State Department’s answer was to sign up for a notification system and wait for alerts,” McClain said. “They offered no real assistance, no opportunities to be rescued, and no plan whatsoever.”
The private rescues highlight concerns that more stranded people will be left behind without government assistance.
