CNN reported that Aaron Rodgers, quarterback for the New York Jets, had enthusiastically shared disproven conspiracy theories about the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting with two people, including a CNN journalist.

In 2013, Rodgers told CNN’s Pamela Brown at a Kentucky Derby party that Sandy Hook was a government inside job and the media was covering it up.

“Sandy Hook never happened…All those children never existed. They were all actors,” Rodgers was quoted to have said.

When questioned, Rodgers repeated conspiracy theories that had been debunked, including claims promoted by Alex Jones that the shooting was staged and victims’ families were “crisis actors.”

Brown found the encounter disturbing. CNN also spoke to another source who said Rodgers had claimed Sandy Hook never happened, the children never existed, and the grieving parents were all actors.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is considering Rodgers as a potential running mate, though Rodgers declined to comment to CNN on spreading the Sandy Hook conspiracy theories.
