Documents obtained by Judicial Watch through a FOIA lawsuit have revealed previously undisclosed involvement by the CIA in response to the January 6th, 2021 events at the US Capitol.

Text messages from the ATF detail the deployment of “two CIA bomb techs” to assist with investigating pipe bombs found near the RNC and DNC headquarters, as well as “several CIA dog teams on standby.”

The texts also describe the discovery of explosive devices, attacks on officers, property damage and the rapid communication of information to the CIA director.

While the FBI and other agencies have investigated the events and security failures surrounding the Capitol breach, the newly released documents are the first to suggest a direct role was played by the CIA.

The presence of viable pipe bombs indicated premeditation and heightened threats on that day of chaos.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said, “These striking records show that CIA resources were deployed in reaction to the January 6 disturbance.”
