According to a transcript of an interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur, President Biden had difficulty recalling key details about his family and career history.

When asked about documents stored after leaving office in 2017, Biden was uncertain of the time period and struggled to remember when his son Beau died, initially stating an incorrect year before being corrected by others in the room.

“Well, um… I, I, I, I, I don’t know. This is, what, 2017, 2018, that area?” Biden asked.

“Yes, sir,” Hur said.

“But if I ran again, I’d be running for President. And, and so what was happening, though what month did Beau die?” Biden asked. “Oh, God, May 30th.”

“Was it 2015 when he died?” Biden asked.

“It was 2015,” Biden said after someone in the room confirmed.

He also seemed confused about when he was vice president and the year Donald Trump won the 2016 election.

“2016,” two individuals said when Biden failed to recall the election date.

“All right. So–why do I have 2017 here?” Biden asked.

“That’s when you left office, January,” one person said.

“Yeah, Okay,” Biden said.

Hur characterized Biden as having a poor memory and unable to be prosecuted for mishandling classified documents due to his cognitive state.
