According to the latest HarrisX/Forbes poll conducted after Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, his approval rating dropped further while Donald Trump’s 2024 prospects improved slightly.
Biden’s approval fell from 39% to 37%, with his disapproval rising from 56% to 58%, leaving him at -21 points underwater.
In hypothetical 2024 matchups, Trump gained 1 point against Biden at 46% to 41%.
In a five-way race including Robert Kennedy Jr. and others, Trump rose from 40% to 41% against Biden’s decline from 36% to 35%.
Most measures showed Trump gaining 1-2 points while Biden’s position weakened or remained unchanged.
On whether Biden should run in 2024, his opposition held steady at 64% while Trump saw his opposition rise slightly from 53% to 54%.
While margins of error could discount the changes, the poll demonstrated Biden failed to improve his standing through the address as he had hoped, with modest benefits accruing instead to Trump.
