Jon Stewart’s latest episode of The Daily Show focused on the misleading “migrant crime” narrative being pushed by some right-wing figures to stoke fears around immigration.
Stewart criticized both Republicans for only exploiting immigration fears politically and Democrats for failing to take action on reform.
Though the opening segment may have been too long, Stewart rightly called out both parties’ inaction while also mocking exaggerated claims about “in-shape” migrants from guests on shows like The Joe Rogan Experience.
The episode included an interview with Jonathan Blitzer discussing how the U.S. is stuck in a loop where the border issue prevents reform and reform is needed to resolve border issues.
While not Stewart’s most substantive segment, it effectively challenged misleading rhetoric around immigration.
