Several charges have been dismissed against former President Donald Trump in his Georgia election interference case.
A judge ruled that six counts of soliciting officials to violate their oaths must be dismissed for all defendants, including three against Trump.
While Trump had been charged with attempting to pressure officials to overturn the 2020 election results, prosecutors can still seek a new indictment.
However, the case against Trump has been weakened. Separately, the judge is considering whether the lead prosecutor, Fani Willis, tainted the case by having a romantic affair with a colleague she later hired, potentially lying about its timeline.
Witnesses have raised doubts about the timeline she provided.
The dismissed charges and questions surrounding the prosecutor create new hurdles for the Georgia case against Trump and his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.
