President Biden was urged to address the issue of securing the border in his State of the Union Address, as immigration tops the list of concerns for Americans.
Despite calls for legislative action, Biden has been encouraged to use his executive power to reinstate Trump-era border policies.
“I’ve never had one conversation with the president or vice president,” former Border Chief Raul Ortiz said.
“I was the chief of the Border Patrol, I commanded 21,000 people. That’s a problem,” he said
The surge in illegal immigration under Biden’s administration has led to increased crime rates, prompting calls for stricter border control measures.
“We need to make sure that Central America, South America, Mexico, that those regions understand that if you pay a smuggler and you cross in between the ports of entry and you do not have a legitimate claim to some sort of asylum benefit, you’re gonna be sent back,” Ortiz said.
The push for restoring border security has been emphasized as essential for maintaining safe communities and addressing potential terrorism risks associated with unvetted immigration.
“It is highly probable that the groundwork is being laid for something far worse than 9/11,” Tesla founder Elon Musk said. “Just a matter of time.”
